Yogyakarta - Pesanggrahan Warungboto Tourism Review

A. Overview
Yogyakarta is home to many historical relics, one of them is an old site that was once a nursing home and water garden. Pasanggrahan Warungboto as they are known today, was one of the other houses, built by Sultan Hamengku Buwana II. On one wall there, you can see an inscription on the verse macapat (traditional Javanese words) that talks about Sultan. The inscription also reveals that the complex was originally called Pasanggrahan Rejowinangun (Rejowinangun Rest House). It was built in the 1800s with a garden and ponds designed to be private when they are surrounded by walls that you could not see anything from outside.

In the left front compartment, there is a narrow staircase to descend. The front of the complex is a square with a cement floor. Being in the front part served as a Bangsal (Hall) and most modern buildings in Java. From here you can see the whole complex of the nursing home.

The nursing home has two floors: a ground and surface one. In the basement, we can see the most interesting parts of the complex. There is a garden and two pools. The first lagoon is 4.5 m in diameter and has a fountain in the middle, while the second is a 10 square meters in four ponds. The ponds are connected by a channel of water that can be clearly seen in the second pond.

B. Features
Warungboto Rest House is also a place architecturally interesting. The northern and southern parts of the ponds, it is quite a large door leading to another room in the basement. Ponds on the east, there are three windows, one is a square, and the other two are curved on top. Moreover, the western part of the pond, is a door that leads to curve topped two other curves at the top of the doors by a small staircase. The last two doors of the pond with a surface soil, where there is a wall sculpture.

A sturdy wall stands on the south side, where you can also find a series of rectangular windows. The walls around the rest house is large and thick. This shows the strength of the architect wanted the building to be. From the street, you see the rest of the nursing home as a building ground floor because the stairs.

Holiday house are other embellishments such as Garuda (mythical bird in Hindu) in the south of the statue, dragon statue to the east, and the vases of flowers in water in the garden. While it seems a little 'overlooked, Holiday House is actually protected by the government.

C. Location
Rest House Warungboto and water gardens is located on the street Veterans Warungboto subdistrict, district Umbulharjo, Yogyakarta.

D. Access
There is no entry fee payment Warungboto Rest House. You may get to see what's inside for free. If you fill the place of custody, you can ask him to take you to the site, when I tell you his story.

F. Accommodation and Other Facilities
House is located not far from the heart of Yogyakarta city. Hotels, transport and places to eat is not hard to find around here.
